Nov 20, 2021 路 The breather valve is located below the intake manifold, behind the throttle housing mount surface. When replacing your crankcase breather valve, I suggest replacing all the vent hoses and the oil drain hose to the dipstick tube. They become brittle over time from exposure to engine oil and heat.
Aug 15, 2013 路 This post is on behalf of a friend, last weekend we set out to swap over his CCV valve and surrounding hoses. However we hit a sticking point, there are apparently 2 bolts holding the manifold cover on which need to be unscrewed to gain access.
Apr 20, 2013 路 I found a technical bulletin (Not BMW) suggesting that proper crankcase vacuum is a method to determine if the CCV is working. The bulletin states that the vacuum should read from 3 to 6 inches of water at idle. I borrowed a calibrated vacuum gauge from my job and measured the vacuum at the oil filler cap on top of the valve cover.
